Hollywood Movie Making Comes To Texas

We're going to be in the movies! This year, Texas filmmaker Baldemar Rodriguez is bringing Hollywood to Texas in a BIG way. He has shot a feature film using Texas locations as the landscape as well as using local talent from all over the Lone Star State. "It has been a rollercoaster of a ride filming this movie," says Rodriguez but has enjoyed every step of the process in particular - because it is a very powerful family story and the challenges of immigration.

Now the movie is in post-production, preparing for its big screen debut. Regal Cinemas, AMC, and other mainstream movie theaters will be a MAJOR part of that experience too! We'll have red carpet events and celebrity appearances in all our theaters, so watch for info on that movie coming soon.

Wait - what's it called, anyway? Well, that's the fun part. Director Baldemar Rodriguez invites YOU to help name his movie! He's provided an emotional sneak peek at his film here so you can watch the trailer, and submit your title ideas by filling out the form below. If his team chooses your title, you'll not only win a VIP Premiere Package for you and your family, but also special recognition at the premiere (photo op with Irma Infante and Ramon Ayala, anyone?), you will ALSO get an official credit in the film! How cool is that? This could be your big break!

About the movie

The movie, El Nacional, is the story about four children and their adult brother as they desperately race across Texas for survival. They are running because their parents, undocumented for 30 years, were caught, arrested and thrown in jail in one fell swoop. Deportation is only a matter of time. When CPS separates them, the children are forced to abandon the only home they've ever known, leaving behind their friends, their school, neighbors, sweethearts and their youngest brother, age 3, and their dog, Frijol.

A routine traffic stop by a police officer goes terribly wrong and now they are not only running from immigration officers but also from the law.

In the United States we see media coverage of huge "immigrant roundups" (raids) but the story of what happens to children who are torn from their parents when the parents are deported is rarely seen. Yet it happens every day in this country. The present law must be enforced. The parents must go but the American-born children stay.

"El Nacional" tells the story of one family torn apart... and the fear and agony the children are forced to bear alone.
